Anime Astral Simulator Update 1: Arise System, Shadows, Gates & Hunter Class Explained

Everything in Anime Astral Simulator Update 1 — how the Arise System and Gate Map work, the 3 new shadows, Hunter Class Gacha, Solo City units, and new accessories.

Update 1 is the biggest patch Anime Astral Simulator has had since release — a full Solo Leveling-themed world with its own gacha, two new gamemodes, and the Arise System that finally gives the game proper companion units. The official patch notes (via the developer’s Trello board) list: a new world, the Gate Map and Raid Map gamemodes, the Gate / Arise / Crafting systems, the Hunter Class Gacha, 3 new shadows, 7 new avatars, 3 new accessories, 5 new ranks, and a player level cap raise from 50 to 75.

Most stats below are community-reported from the official Trello and player testing — verify in-game, numbers can change with hotfixes.

Solo City: the new World 5

Solo City unlocks after finishing the Titan Wall quest chain. It ships with a full new fighter roster from the World 5 Star:

FighterRarityMultiplier
BezuDivinex15,000
IgrosSecretx5,000
Sung IceCraftedx2,000
Sung TimeSkipMythicx800
ChoiLegendaryx400
BaekEpicx325
HaeRarex265
EsiUncommonx215
Young SungCommonx175

Sung Ice comes from the new Crafting System: 3 copies of Sung TimeSkip plus 25 Solo Shards. Heads-up — Solo Shards were nerfed hard shortly after launch (community reports say the drop chance went from 5% to 0.1%), which is what the NPCNERF compensation code was issued for — grab it on the codes page if you haven’t.

The world boss, Beleon, has enormous HP (community footage shows ~2.2 DE) and drops the Iron Shield accessory at a reported 0.07% (1.75x Power / 1.5x Yen).

The Gate System and Gate Map

Gates are Solo Leveling-style portals that spawn on a timer near the Solo City craft area — community reports conflict between every 7 and every 10 minutes, so treat the timer as approximate. Inside is a wave defense mode: normal mobs, mini-bosses, and a boss tier the Trello calls the Arise Boss.

Gates are currently the only source of several things:

  • Shadows (via the Arise System below)
  • Hunter Tokens for the Hunter Class Gacha
  • The Tusk Neck Skull accessory (2x Power / 1.75x Damage) at 0.03% from mobs, 0.05% from mini-bosses, and 0.1% from the Arise Boss
  • Range progress — running gates is how you raise your Range stat

One important community finding: gate difficulty does not affect shadow quality. An E-rank gate can still drop an S-rank shadow, so farm whatever rank you can clear fast. The Raid Map listed in the patch notes didn’t actually appear until Update 1.5 — see our Update 1.5 breakdown for how Timeless Raids work.

The Arise System and the 3 new shadows

Defeat a Gate boss and you get the option to Arise it — extracting it as a shadow, a companion that fights alongside you and copies a percentage of your damage. Community testing puts it at roughly one boss every 10 waves with 3 Arise attempts, and there’s an Auto-Arise toggle (buggy at launch; the prompt sometimes doesn’t appear).

The three shadows players have identified so far (the Trello only says “3 New Shadows”, so names are community-reported):

ShadowRarityEffect
IgrisDivine (community-reported)Copies ~150% of your damage
IronSecret (community-reported)Copies up to 100% of your damage at Rank S
TuskUnverifiedCopies damage, scaling with rank

Shadows roll a rank (B / A / S) separately from their rarity, and the rank decides the damage-copy percentage. You can equip one shadow by default; the new +1 Shadow Equip gamepass (540 Robux) adds a second slot. If you’d rather pay than farm, the Igris Bundle in the shop also includes the Igros Coat accessory (2x Power / 1.75x Damage, guaranteed).

Hunter Class Gacha

The Hunter Class Gacha is Solo City’s progression gacha — World 5’s equivalent of the Dojoutsu, Races, Haki, and Family gachas in earlier worlds. You roll it with tokens earned from gates and Solo City kills, and it raises your power multiplier. It has a visible Legendary pity; exact class names and rates haven’t been published anywhere yet — we’ll update this page once the community pins them down.

Note that Trials do not drop World 5 tokens as of Update 1, so you can’t shortcut Hunter Class progress from the Lobby — you have to run gates.

”7 new weapons”? Actually 7 new avatars

A lot of early coverage (including some wikis) lists “+7 weapons” in Update 1. The official patch notes actually say +7 New Avatars — the back-slot avatar roster for Solo City: Beleon (Secret, x687.5), Baruke (Mythic, x275), Tusko (Legendary, x170), Antaro (Epic, x125), Gotu (Rare, x95), Keng (Uncommon, x72.5), and Gogun (Common, x57.5). The game still has seven swords total, topped by the Sungo Dagger (4.5x base, 7.9x at 3 stars) — see the weapons page for the full table.

Everything else in Update 1

  • +5 ranks (ladder extended to Rank 27) and player level cap 50 → 75
  • World 4 items added to the Exchange
  • New store items: Update 1 Bundle, Igris Bundle, Potion II Bundle, +1 Shadow Equip gamepass
  • New codes: UPDATE1, plus the milestone wave (10KPLAYERS, 13KPLAYERS, 2.5KLIKES, 5KLIKES, 1MVISITS, 1.5MVISITS, SORRYFORDELAY) — and NPCNERF as compensation for the shard nerf. All still active; see the codes page for the full list.

Is Update 1 worth grinding?

If you’re past Titan Wall, yes — shadows are the biggest single power spike in the game right now (community tier lists put top shadow setups around a x15,000 multiplier, far above older secrets), and gates are AFK-friendly once your Range is high. If you’re earlier in progression, keep pushing worlds first: Solo City’s boss HP is brutal, and even top-power players struggled with D-rank gates at launch.

FAQ

How do you get shadows in Anime Astral Simulator?

Shadows drop from the Arise System inside Gates in Solo City (World 5). Clear waves until a boss spawns, then use an Arise attempt to try to extract it as a shadow. Gate difficulty does not change shadow quality — community testing says even an E-rank gate can give an S-rank shadow.

What does the Arise System do?

It lets you extract defeated Gate bosses as shadows — companion units that copy a percentage of your damage and attack alongside you, Solo Leveling style. Rank B, A, and S shadows copy increasing damage, up to 100% at S rank (community-reported).

Is there a pity for shadows or Divine units?

No. Secret units have a 10,000-summon pity and Mythics hit pity at 1,000, but Divine units and shadows currently have no pity system — all figures are community-reported, verify in-game.

What is the new world in Update 1?

Solo City (World 5), a Solo Leveling-themed world. It adds 9 new fighters including Bezu (Divine, x15,000) and Igros (Secret, x5,000), plus the Hunter Class Gacha and the Gate and Raid gamemodes.
